In a small military town at the end of the 20th century, young "boys" enjoy three things: talking about girls, playing kickball, and playing soldier. As tensions rise between two rival gangs of kids from different elementary schools over who controls an abandoned field that's perfect for kickball, the kids involved find themselves wrestling with the beginnings of adolescence. And one of them starts to realize that he might just be the very thing they absolutely must not be: queer.
